Today we took a rare break from running the label and ventured back into the terrifying territory of sporting endeavour in the name of Little Hearts Matter.
We entered two teams into The Little Hearts Matter Cup at Heaton Manor School, (AC Tiny Lights and Inter Tiny Lights) featuring TL’s dear leader Paul, Fantasy Rainbow, members of Tissue Culture, Blank Maps, O’Messy Life and Perfect Little Circles, as well as a couple of ringers from Amazing Radio and gig promoter The Outsider.
As it turns out, we should probably have organised ourselves a little better and maybe done some kind of planning or preparation, because both sides lost every game (AC’s record was particularly woeful, ending up with the wooden spoon thanks to a run of form including 6-0, 7-0 and 10-0 defeats, as well as two harsh (fair) penalty defeats).
Still though, that’s not really the point, because we had an absolute blast, and I don’t think many other teams contained a striker who’d had three cans of lager by their last game.
Most importantly, the day raised in excess of £4,000 for Little Hearts Matter, which is an absolutely incredible achievement, and a proper credit to all involved in organising the event and all who participated and volunteered. Given the negative press football frequently gets, it’s nice to see it bringing people together to do something so good. Thanks for having us…
