End of year news round-up

So the year is trundling merrily towards a close, we’re winding down too after a busy December, but there’s still one or two things happening before we pitch ourselves headlong into the excitement that will be 2012.

First up, a little reminder. If you haven’t had the chance yet, our FREE 7 track Christmas compilation is still available for download from here. While you’re there, why not have a browse around the online shop, because there’s lots of other nice free stuff, and some practically free stuff while our December sale is on. Don’t forget, every purchase in December will be accompanied by some kind of miscellaneous free stuff too. Things given away so far include setlists, badges, promo CDs and other odds and ends.

One artist on the label in particular who has been busy recently has been Fantasy Rainbow. Just last week he played NARC Magazine’s Stars in their Eyes Night, alongside Brilliant Mind’s Calum Lynn (with able backing from James and Paul from the same band), as Simon and Garfunkel. There’s a photo gallery here. Fantasy Rainbow’s Youth Forever was also played on Tom Robinson’s Fresh on the Net in the early hours of Monday morning. If you missed it, it’s on iPlayer (about 40 minutes in) until the weekend. Fantasy Rainbow is also (kind of) getting in the festive spirit with the giveaway of a brand new Christmas song ‘It’s Christmas and I Fucking Hate Myself’ from here.

While we’re rounding off 2011, we might as well whet your appetites for 2012. Already confirmed is the Tiny Lights debut of Styles Make Fights, who release their new single ‘All the Things I’ve Done Wrong’ (backed with ‘Look Back’ and ‘Spaces Between the Stars’) on CD and download on February 6th. There’ll also be a brand new EP by Fantasy Rainbow, as well as the debut single by The Lake Poets ‘City by the Sea’ (stay tuned for incredibly exciting news on the launch party for that one). As well as those, expect releases by Patterns in Plastic, Rejections, and a couple of new friends whose names we aren’t quite at liberty to divulge yet.

Don’t forget, we’re rounding off this year in style at Newcastle Cluny 2 on Thursday December 29th, with ‘Nothing Like Christmas’, a gig featuring Fantasy Rainbow, Brilliant Mind, and Tissue Culture, with entry for £3 and free CD copies of the Christmas compilation on offer.  And check back here soon for a special feature where Tiny Lights artists and co-conspirators pick their favourite releases of the year. Merry Christmas from all at Tiny Lights.
